26 Home Remedies For Acne /Pimples

26 Home Remedies For Acne /Pimples

Pimples, Acne, Zits, Bumps, Spots, Whatever you want to call them, they are annoying, and chances are, they will happen at the most inopportune time. You might think that once you pass puberty, you’re in the clear as far as blemishes are concerned, but that is not always the case.

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions in the world, affecting an estimated 85% of people at some point in their lives.

Those tiny zits, the pimples, are the last thing you want to see on your face when you peep into the mirror first in the morning. These boils really suck! They not only take away your natural charm but also make you embarrassed socially.

Likely causes of pimples

Stress Causes Acne

In theory, stress can affect hormones, and therefore promote acne. It’s hard to quantify this though, and when you think about the stress most of us deal with in day to day to life, there wouldn’t be an acne free face in sight.
An effective acne treatment regime will override a bit of everyday stress anytime.

Dirt/Dirty Skin

Acne is caused by dirt, poor hygiene, not washing your face and so on. Too much scrubbing or cleansing with harsh soaps or chemicals can actually irritate your skin and make the acne worse.
If you over clean you can end up drying out your skin, which will then try and compensate by making that much more oil. A simple cleansing of the skin to get rid of excess oil and dead skin cells is all that is needed.

Greasy food and chocolate

Greasy food and chocolate have been shown to have little to no effect on the development of acne. Diet can still have an impact, as some dairy products or carbs increase blood sugar or have added hormones and trigger acne, but it’s not usually the case.

Dehydration

Look for a good non comedogenic which means less likely to clog pores, moisturizer to use.
After treating your acne, be it with banana peels or over the counter creams, a moisturizer can help balance out your skin, ensuring that it doesn’t create excess oil to compensate for all that you dried up.

Here I Have Compiled For You The Best Remedies For Pimples

Lemon Juice

The natural astringent and antibacterial properties of lemon juice are great for clearing up skin. To get the best results, just apply the lemon juice directly to the skin and leave it for up to an hour.

Turmeric Powder And Lemon Juice

The anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial properties of turmeric are no hidden secrets for any of us.

Procedures
  • Take some turmeric powder and Neem leaves.
  • Crush the Neem leaves and mix with turmeric to make a paste. You can also use Neem powder.
  • Apply the paste on your pimples and leave it on your face for about 15 minutes
  •  Then wash off with clean water

Alternatively
  • Mix turmeric powder and sandalwood powder in equal quantities
  • Add rose water to get a smooth paste.
  •  Apply this paste on your pimples
  •  Leave it for about 10-15 minutes
  • Wash off with warm water. Not only your pimples will go away but your face would also glow.
Note: Do not leave turmeric for long on your skin or you’ll have to stay indoors for quite a few days due to the pale spots it will leave on your skin! Always wash off turmeric with lukewarm water to let the spots left by it fade away.

Lemon And Groundnut Oil

This seems to be the easiest home remedy for pimples
Procedures
  • Just take one tablespoon of lime juice
  • Add groundnut oil
  • Apply this to your face.
  • Wash off with clean water
Note :This method prevents blackheads, the foundations for pimples!

Garlic

Garlic proves to be a boon due to its component allicin which is a very good antibiotic. Garlic may be smelly but its benefits for health is not a hidden secret any more. Impure blood is one of the causes of pimples and having raw garlic purifies blood leading to elimination of acne.

Procedures

·       Grind the garlic very well to form a paste
·       Add some water just to make a smooth paste
·       Rub this on your face
·       Leave it to dry
·       Wash it off

Note: You can leave it on overnight if you are ok with the smell.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar  kills off the bacteria that may be causing all the trouble in the first place. It also becomes alkaline, and balances the pH of your skin, which in turn makes it harder for bacteria to thrive. Apple cider vinegar contains several organic acids that have been shown to kill P. acnes.

In particular, succinic acid has been shown to suppress inflammation caused by P. acnes, which may prevent scarring. Also, lactic acid has been shown to improve the appearance of acne scars.

Like other vinegars, it is known for its ability to fight many types of bacteria and viruses.

Procedures
  • Get some Apple cider vinegar
  •  Apply it on the face
  • Leave on for at least 10 minutes, or overnight.
  •  Wash off with clean water after that
Note: Don’t overdo and dry out your skin too much.

Cinnamon And Honey Mask

Honey and cinnamon make a killer combo when it comes to acne. Honey is sticky, and cinnamon is spicy, and it seems like they’re both things you’d want to avoid getting near your skin.

Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties, so it can help stop bacteria from getting out of hand. If it does, the honey is a natural anti-biotic, ready and waiting to wipe the little buggers out.

Procedures
  • Wash your face with water and pat dry.
  •  Mix 2 tablespoons of honey
  • Add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Mix well until they are thoroughly blended and have formed a sort of paste.
  •   Apply the mask to your face
  • Leave on for 10-15 minutes.
  • Rinse off completely,
  • Pat your face dry with clean water.

Lemon And Rosewater

On top of treating your acne it has a nice scent.
Procedures
  •  Mix lime juice with rose water
  • Apply this on your pimples.
  • Leave it for about 30 minutes.
  • Wash off with clean water.
Note: do this daily for at least 2-4 weeks depending upon the severity of your pimples.

Banana Peel

Bananas peels contain something called lutein, an extremely powerful antioxidant that reduces swelling and inflammation, and encourages healthy cell growth. Rubbing a banana peel on your face can reduce the redness, obviousness, and discomfort of acne.

It’s (debatably) a better use than using it to trip your friend

 Procedures

  • Peel your banana and eat it- it’s not cool to waste, and they’re good for you.
  • Take the banana peels
  •  Blend them in the blender to make paste
  •  Rub this paste in a circular motion all over your face.
  •  Let it sit for at least 30 minutes
  •  Rinse well with cold water
Note: repeat this daily for a week

Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliation is the process of removing the top layer of dead skin cells. It can be achieved mechanically by using a brush or scrub to physically remove the cells. Alternatively, it can be removed chemically by applying an acid that dissolves them.

Exfoliation is believed to improve acne by removing the skin cells that clog up pores.
It is also believed to make acne treatments for the skin more effective by allowing them to penetrate deeper, once the topmost layer of skin is removed.

Some studies show that microdermabrasion, which is a method of exfoliation, can improve the skin's appearance, including some cases of acne scarring.

Note: There are a wide variety of exfoliation products available in stores and online, but it's just as easy to make a scrub at home using sugar or salt.

Sodium Bicarbonate

Sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, swoops in and makes itself useful in too many ways to count. Sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, has mild antiseptic properties, as well as its uncanny ability to fight off fungus and bacteria and dry up excess oil, all while exfoliating your skin via microdermabrasion and making it soft and beautiful.

Procedures

·       Mix the baking soda with water in equal parts to form a thick paste.
·       Massage the paste on in slow circular motions for a 2 minutes.
·       Leave the mask on for around 15-20 minutes,
·       Rinse thoroughly with warm water
·       Pat dry with clean water and moisturize.
Note: Don’t leave this too long because the baking soda is corrosive and may cause damage to the skin .

Ice Cubes

If you have spots that are especially swollen and red, ice can be a great way to reduce inflammation and reduce the appearance of blemishes. Just rub an ice cube on the trouble spots, and not only will your pores close up, the bacteria will be pushed out as well.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal can power you up from the inside out-and the outside in. If you soak/cook your oats and use them in mask, they can reduce the inflammation and unsightly redness that accompanies breakouts
Procedures

·       Whip up a batch of oatmeal as usual,
·       Still hot, add two tablespoons of honey.
·       Let mixture cool to room temperature. Keep in mind it retains quite a bit of heat, so really make sure it’s a comfortable temperature before applying it to your skin
·       Leave it on for 20-30 minutes
·       Rinse off with warm water
·       Pat your skin dry with a clean towel

Note: do this twice a week for a month

Sugar Scrub And Olive Oil

Sugar, white or brown, helps get rid of the excess skin cells clogging up your pores by acting as gentle exfoliator. Mix it up with honey, olive oil, or just plain water, and you have a sweet scrub to help rid you of your acne woes. There are plenty of different recipes out there, but we found this one to be particularly delightful.

Requirements

·       1 ½ cups of white sugar
·       1 ½ cups brown sugar, light or dark
·       2-3 tablespoons coarse sea salt
·       Roughly 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
·       10 tablespoons of pure vanilla extract
Procedures

·       Mix 1 ½ cups of brown sugar and 1 ½ cups of brown sugar
·       Add in a few tablespoons of coarse sea salt for extra exfoliation and mix.
·       Put about 2 cups of this sugar/salt/vanilla mixture into a liquid measuring cup and pack it down nice and snug.
·       Pour the extra virgin olive oil over the top, and let it soak through half the mixture, leaving a little layer on top.
·       Mix this up in the measuring cup, and then add it to the rest of the sugar/salt/vanilla mix.
·       Add 4-5 tablespoons of pure vanilla extract and mix it in.
·       You can spoon your scrub into whatever containers you wish to store it, making sure to pack it down.
·       Apply this on the face
·       Leave it for about 15 minutes
·       Rinse off with clean water

Yogurt And Honey

There is quite a bit of hub bub around dairy products causing acne, applied topically it seems that milk can improve your outbreaks and skin tone. The acids in it are antibacterial while the fat provides moisture, making it quite nourishing for skin.  For the most part, it just soothes the irritated skin, and helps tone down the redness.

Procedures

  •  Let yogurt or milk come to room temperature
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of milk or yogurt thoroughly with 1 tablespoon of honey.
  •  Apply the mixture with a cotton pad, but scooping it up and patting it on works just fine as well.
  •  Let each layer dry before adding a new one, until the mask is the thickness you want.
  •  Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  •  Wash the mask off and use a washcloth to gently scrub in a circular motion
  • Moisturize as usual.

Avocado & Honey Mask

·       Rinse your face with water
·       Pat it dry with a clean towel.
·       Scrap out the inside of the avocado and mash it up
·       Add in the honey and stir well to make a paste.
·       Apply it to your skin
·       Leave it on for 15-20 minutes.
·       Wash off the mixture with lukewarm water
·       Pat your face dry.
·       Apply moisturizer.

·       Mix 1 part tea tree oil with 9 parts water.
·       Dip a cotton swab into the mixture
·        Apply it to affected areas.
·       Apply moisturizer if desired.
·       Repeat this process 1–2 times per day, as needed.

The major antioxidant in green tea which is the epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) ,  has been shown to reduce sebum production, fight inflammation and inhibit the growth of P. acnes in individuals with acne-prone skin .

You can buy creams and lotions that contain green tea, but it is just as easy to make your own mixture at home.

Procedures
·       Steep green tea in boiling water for 3–4 minutes.
·       Allow tea to cool.
·       Using a cotton ball, apply tea to skin or pour into a spray bottle to spritz on.
·       Allow to dry
·       Rinse with water and pat dry.

Note: You can also add the remaining tea leaves to honey and make a mask.

Papaya

Plain raw papaya is an all-natural acne remedy that removes dead skin cells and excess lipids from the surface of the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Lipids are a general term for fats, of which oil is a form of. Papaya also contains an enzyme called papain, which reduces inflammation and helps prevent the pus from forming.

  •  Apply this paste to your face

Moisturize With Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a tropical plant whose leaves produce a clear gel. The gel is often added to lotions, creams, ointments and soaps. It's commonly used to treat abrasions, rashes, burns and other skin conditions.
When applied to the skin, aloe vera gel can help heal wounds, treat burns and fight inflammation.
Aloe vera also contains salicylic acid and sulfur, which are both used extensively in the treatment of acne.

Procedures
·       Scrape the gel from the aloe plant out with a spoon.
·       Apply gel directly to clean skin as a moisturizer.
·       Repeat 1–2 times per day, or as desired.

Strawberries And Honey

Strawberries may seem random, but consider the fact that they’re high in salicylic acid. Salicylic acid-a primary ingredient in many commercial acne treatments- encourages the epidermis to shed its cells more readily, opening up clogged pores, and neutralizing bacteria.

It also shrinks up the pores a little bit, which prevents them from clogging up as much in the future, and encourages new cell growth. Honey also works against bacteria that may be behind your acne, and is an anti-inflammatory.

·       Procedures

Wash your face with water and pat dry.
