15 Natural Remedies For Tender Heels


Dry and cracked feet are a sign of lack of attention towards your body they are a very common problem and can range in severity from a cosmetic issue to a painful problem. 

The skin on the feet tends to become drier as there are no oil glands present there. This dryness causes the skin to crack. In addition to dry, thickened skin, the problem may be accompanied by symptoms like redness, itching, inflammation and peeling skin.

However, there are several home remedies for cracked heels that you can try to resolve the problem.




 You Can Use Vegetable Oil

Requirements
·       Vegetable oil like Olive oil, and coconut oil
·       Clean warm Water
·       Clean towels
·       Socks

A variety of vegetable oils can be used to treat and prevent cracked heels. And these include Olive oil, and coconut oil or any other hydrogenated vegetable oil will work.

Procedures

  •  Soak the feet in warm water and scrub them very well with a pumice stone.
  •  Wash the feet and leave them to dry
  • Apply any vegetable oil of your choice liberally on your heels and soles.
  • Put on a pair of clean socks and leave them to rest. 
 
 
Note: do this before going to bed. In the morning, your heels will be noticeably softer.Repeat this for a few days until the cracks in your heels are.


 Use Lemon, Salt, Glycerin, and Rose Water Foot Mask


The acidic properties of lemon juice help to heal rough and dry skin, thus preventing cracking on the soles of the feet the combination of rosewater and glycerin turns out to be an effective treatment for cracked heels.

Requirements
  • 2 tablespoons glycerin
  • Salt
  • 2 teaspoons rosewater
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • A pair of socks
  • Warm water
  • Pumice stone/foot scrubber
Procedures
·       Put  warm water in a basin and add raw salt,
·        Add lemon juice, one tablespoon of glycerin, and one teaspoon of rosewater. Soak your feet for about 15-20 minutes in this water.
·       Mix them very well
·       Wash the feet properly
·       Use the pumice stone or a foot scrubber, scrub your heels and the sides of the feet.
·        Then Mix one teaspoon of glycerin, one teaspoon of rosewater, and one teaspoon of lemon juice to make a paste. Apply the paste on your cracked heels and wear socks.
·       Wash off with lukewarm water in the morning.

Note: Repeat this for a few days till your heels become soft.
 
You can use Rice Flour

Exfoliating the skin on your feet and heels will help remove dead skin, thus preventing cracking and dryness. Rice flour can be used a part of a homemade exfoliating scrub.

Requirements
  •  Rice flour
  • Honey
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Water
  • Basin
Procedures
·       mix a handful of rice flour with a few teaspoons of honey
·       Add apple cider vinegar.
·       Stir it until it becomes a thick paste.
·       Add a tablespoon of olive oil or sweet almond oil.
·       Soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes
·       Then gently scrub them with the rice flour paste.

Note: Repeat the process a few times a week until you are satisfied with the results.

Lemons


The acidic property in lemons can be very effective in softening rough skin that leads to cracking.

Requirements
  •  Lemons
  •  Warm water
  • Clean towel
  • Basin
  • pumice stone
Procedures
  •    cut the lemons and squeeze them into the basin
  •    add the warm water
  •    Soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes in the mixture.
  •   Scrub your cracked heels using a pumice stone.
  •    Wash your feet
  •    Pat dry with a towel.

Banana and Avocado Foot Mask


Avocados are rich in several essential oils, vitamins, and fats that help repair dry skin. Banana works as a moisturizer and makes your skin softer and smoother.

Requirements
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 avocado
  • Blender
Procedures
·       Blend a ripe banana and half an avocado.
·       Apply this thick, creamy paste over your heels and feet.
·       Keep it on for 15 to 20 minutes
·       Then wash off your feet with lukewarm water.

Note: You can do this every day till your heels become soft.


Vaseline and Lemon Juice



Lemon’s acidic properties and Vaseline’s moisturizing properties help you get rid of dry and achy feet
Requirements
  • 1 teaspoon Vaseline
  • 4 to 5 drops lemon juice
  • Warm water
Procedures
  •   Soak your feet in warm water for about 15-20 minutes. Rinse and pat dry. 
  •  Mix one teaspoon of Vaseline and a few drops of lemon juice.
  •   Rub this mixture over your heels and other cracked parts of the feet till it gets absorbed into the skin.
  •     Apply this mixture and wear a pair of woolen socks.
  •     Keep it on overnight and wash off in the morning.
Note :Woolen socks help trap the body’s heat and increase the effectiveness of the mixture.


Paraffin Wax Natural Remedy



Paraffin wax acts as a natural emollient that helps soften your skin. It turns out to be a good treatment for cracked and painful heels .
Requirements
  • 1 tablespoon paraffin wax
  • 2 to 3 drops mustard/coconut oil
  • Heat source
  • A pair of socks
Procedures
·       Take some paraffin wax and mix it with mustard oil or coconut oil.
·       Heat the mixture in a pan till the wax melts properly.
·       Allow this to cool down to room temperature.
·       Apply the mixture on your feet before going to bed
·       Wear a pair of socks.
·       Wash off properly in the morning.
Note : Once or twice a week before going to bed.


Honey


Honey is considered to be a natural antiseptic that helps heal cracked feet, and its soothing properties help revitalize the skin .

Requirements
  • 1 cup honey
  • Warm water
  • Clean towel
  • bucket
Procedures
·       Mix one cup of honey to half a bucket of warm water.
·       Soak your feet for about 15-20 minutes.
·       Scrub off gently to obtain soft and supple feet.
·       Dry the feet with a clean towel

Note: You can do this on a regular basis to get rid of cracked heels quickly.


Oatmeal Remedy



Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties that help remove dead skin cells and soften the skin.

Requirements 

  •   1 tablespoon powdered oatmeal
  •    4 to 5 drops olive oil
  •    Clean towel
  •   Clean water
Procedures
  •   Get  the powdered oatmeal
  •   Add olive oil to make a thick paste.
  •   Apply this over your feet, especially over the heels and any cracked parts.
  •   Leave it on for about half an hour.
  •  Rinse off with cold water
  •   pat dry with a clean towel
Note: Every alternate day till you get rid of cracked heels.

Sesame Oil



Sesame oil is considered to be very nourishing and moisturizing. It helps soften and soothe dry and cracked feet very efficiently .

Requirements 
4 to 5 drops sesame oil
Procedures
·       Apply sesame oil on your heels and any other cracked parts.
·       Massage well till it is absorbed by the skin.

Note: Daily before going to bed.


Listerine Soak


Soaking your feet in Listerine will soften the hardened dead skin and make it easier to be scrubbed off. Listerine is also an antiseptic and soothes the skin because of the phytochemicals like menthol and thymol that are usually present in it.

Requirements
  • 1 cup Listerine
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • A basin
  • Foot file or pumice stone
  • Clean towel
Procedures
  •   Soak your feet for 10-15 minutes in the liquid mix containing the above mentioned ingredients.
  •   Remove your feet
  •  Scrub using the foot file or pumice stone to slough off the dead skin.
  •   Rinse with clean water
  •   pat dry with a towel
  •   Moisturize.
Note: Repeat this every day for three to four days until the dead skin wears off.


Baking Soda



Baking soda is a commonly used exfoliator. It removes dead cells and also soothes the skin as it possesses anti-inflammatory properties.

Requirements
  • 3 tablespoons baking soda
  • Warm water
  • A bucket
  • Pumice stone
Procedures
  • Fill 2/3rds of the bucket with warm water and add the baking soda.
  •   Mix well until the baking soda dissolves in the water.
  •   Soak your feet in this for 10 to 15 minutes.
  •   Remove your feet from the soak
  •  Scrub gently with the pumice stone.
  • Rinse with clean water.
Note: Do this twice a week.

Apple Cider Vinegar For Cracked Heels



The mild acids present in ACV will soften the dry and dead skin, making it easy to exfoliate. Once exfoliated, the fresh and healthy skin is revealed.

Requirements
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Warm water
  • A basin
  • Clean towel
Procedures
  •    Fill the basin with enough water to soak your feet in
  •    Add the apple cider vinegar
  •    Mix it well.
  •   Soak your feet in the water for about 15 minutes
  •  Scrub afterwards to remove the dead skin.

Note:  Repeat this the next day or after a day’s gap, if required.


Epsom Salt For Cracked Heels



Epsom salt softens the skin and also soothes tired feet.

Requirements
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt
  • Clean towel
  • Warm water
  • A foot basin
Procedures
  •   Fill the foot basin with water
  •    Mix Epsom salt in.
  •   Soak your cracked feet in this for 15 minutes.
  •   Scrub to remove dead skin.
  •   Pat dry with a clean towel
Note : Repeat this twice or thrice a week until your feet become soft.

Aloe Vera For Cracked Heels



Aloe Vera soothes dry and dead skin. It heals the ridges and cracks that have formed and increases collagen synthesis. The amino acids present in it are responsible for the skin-softening action .

Requirements
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Lukewarm water
  • Foot basin
  • A pair of socks
  • A basin
  • Clean towel
Procedures
  •    Soak your feet in lukewarm water for a few minutes.
  •     Pat dry with a clean towel
  •   apply aloe Vera gel liberally on your feet.
  •   Wear socks and leave the gel on your feet overnight.

Note : Repeat this every night for four to five days and you will notice a vast difference in your feet.



Vitamin E Oil For Cracked Heels

Vitamin E oil nourishes and hydrates the skin and makes your heels smooth and soft .

Requirements 

  •      Vitamin E capsules
  •     A pair of Socks
Procedures
  •   Make a hole in about three to four capsules and remove the oil present inside.
  •    Apply this oil on the affected area and massage it in for a minute.
  •   Wear thick sock
  •   Leave it for about 10 minutes
  •   Remove later and rinse well
Note : Reapply vitamin E oil twice or thrice a day.



Shea Butter For Cracked Heels

Shea butter is a well-known skin moisturizer that hydrates and nourishes the skin. It also possesses healing properties and improves various skin conditions related to dryness because of its vitamin A and vitamin E content .

Requirements
  •   A basin
  •  A clean towel
  •  1-2 tablespoons organic Shea butter
  •  A pair of socks
Procedures
  •   Apply shea butter on your feet
  •     Massage them for a minute or two so that the shea butter gets absorbed easily.
  •   Slip on some socks
  •  Leave the shea butter on overnight.
  •   Rinse in the morning
  •   Pat dry with a clean towel

Note: Repeat this for a few nights for soft heels.
